Lavender Buds
Powder -
Lavender powder is soothing and is wonderful to add to
formulations intended to aid stress and promote relaxation. The uses for
powdered lavender buds are endless. Add lavender buds powder to body powders,
creams, foot powders, milk baths, bath teas, soap, bath salts, body wraps, hair
wraps, facials and carpet fresheners.
Lemon Peel
Powder
- Use
powdered lemon peel to add fragrance to milk baths, salt scrubs, hair oil packs
and facials. Lemon peel acts as an astringent for the skin and hair. Use lemon
peel powder in facials for acne prone skin.
Lemongrass - Dried lemongrass can be added to soaps for a natural herbal look or added
to sachets and bath teas. Use the essential oil to make insect repellent soaps
and add about 1 tablespoon of cut lemongrass per pound of soap for an
exfoliating bar. Lemongrass is uplifting, stress relieving and has a light
lemony scent.
Marshmallow Root
Powder
- Use marshmallow root powder in bath teas, milk baths,
soaps, baby powders, bath fizzies, body wraps and scalp treatments. Powdered
marshmallow root can be used in a soothing facial by making a “tea” and mixing
the resulting gel with clay and other dry ingredients.

Stinging Nettles are said to be extremely effective in
reducing itchiness due to eczema and allergic dermatitis. Water or oil stinging
nettle infusions can be used to make creams, lotions, salves, hair rinses and
hair conditioners. Combine nettles, amla, aritha, shikakai and aritha for an
effective hair wash tea for dandruff. Stinging nettles are also high in iron,
calcium, potassium and silica. Use stinging nettles in bath teas and washbags to
soothe itchy, irritated skin.

external bleeding or itchiness. Nettles are said to encourage hair growth and

Parsley is soothing, cleansing and detoxifying when added to baths and skin care
products. It helps open up and cleanse the pores. Add parsley powder to bath
teas, milk baths, bath salts and detoxifying body wraps.
Peppermint
Leaf -
Peppermint leaf is known for its soothing as well as its
stimulating properties. In a tea, it can help relieve upset stomach. A
peppermint oil infusion can also be helpful when gently rubbed on the abdomen
when stomach upset or menstrual cramps arise. Peppermint is wonderful to include
in summertime blends for its cooling effect on the skin. The peppermint aroma is
useful for relieving headaches. Peppermint leaves have also been used as a
natural deterrent for rodents and insects. Add peppermint leaves to salt scrubs,
bath teas, bath salts, facials, peppermint soaps, wash bags, sachets and
more.
Rosehip Powder -
Rosehips are an excellent source of Vitamin C. They also contain tannin and
carotene. Add our seedless Rosehip powder to milk baths and bath teas to add
these nutrients to your bath. Rosehip powder also acts as a gentle exfoliant in
facials. Use rosehip powder to add color to soap.
Rosemary Leaf - The natural essential oil in rosemary is energizing. Rosemary can be
added to "wake me up" soaps and products for morning use. Rosemary is wonderful
for the hair and is also useful for encouraging hair growth. Rosemary oil
infusions can be used in hair oils and scalp treatments or in massage oils to
relieve muscular tension, pain and stiffness. Rosemary is also said to assist
with memory and concentration.
Safflower
Petals -
These beautiful safflower petals are bright yellow in color
and can be used in potpourris, drawer sachets, herb blends, bath salts and more.
Use them to add a splash of color to your product.
Shavegrass
(Horsetail)
- Shavegrass, also known as Horsetail, can be used
externally to stop bleeding, heal wounds and burns and to promote healthy skin.
Use shavegrass in a sitz bath to relieve the pain and swelling of hemorrhoids.
Use it in bath teas and body wraps to alleviate arthritic stiffness and swelling
from broken bones. It is reported that it also helps to stop
bleeding.
St. John's Wort - St.
John’s Wort is well known for its internal use as an aid for depression and
anxiety. Externally, it is wonderful for its ability to help heal wounds, burns
and sunburn. It is anti-inflammatory and is useful for muscular aches. St.
John’s Wort can be infused in vegetable oil. The infused oil can be added to
your balms, ointments and muscular blends.
Yellow Dock Root Powder -
Yellow dock has been used since ancient times to heal
blisters, boils, skin rashes, burns and lesions. A tea made from yellow dock
root powder and used externally will soothe eczema and other inflammatory or
weeping conditions of the skin. Infuse yellow dock root powder in oil for use in
creams, lotions, ointments and soap.
